Each request your app makes to the LoyaltyDog Public API with an API key (ld_live_ / ld_test_) counts as one call — for example creating a customer, issuing a gift card, or checking a balance. Calls from all of your API keys count toward one shared monthly allowance. Shopify, Clover, EPOS Now, and WooCommerce platform traffic does not count.

API keys (ld_live_ and ld_test_) are created in the dashboard after subscribing. Test keys (ld_test_) also require a paid Public API Access subscription and currently act on live data, so treat them like live keys. Calls from both count toward your plan’s shared monthly allowance.

Limits are set by plan. Standard: 100,000 API calls a month, 1,000 per hour, and 60 per minute. Growth: 250,000 a month, 2,000 per hour, and 120 per minute. Scale: 600,000 a month, 5,000 per hour, and 300 per minute. Enterprise: custom. The monthly allowance is shared across all of a merchant’s API keys. Going over the hourly or per-minute limit returns HTTP 429 (code rate_limited) until the window resets.

Going over your monthly allowance is a hard stop. Requests return HTTP 429 (code monthly_quota_exceeded) until the allowance resets on the 1st of the month (UTC). We email you at 80% and 100% of your allowance. There are no overage charges. Need more? You can upgrade anytime by contacting [email protected] (plan switching isn’t self-serve yet).
